Is He my Type? Typography Continuation…

6 Aug

Recently, I came across a website that encompasses my love for design… and also my latest obsession with typography. It’s called “Forty Days of Dating” and the premise is this:

Two designer friends decides to date each other, and start a  40 day experiment, where they document this journey, day-by-day through typography posts on their blogs.  They believe that it takes 40 days to change a bad habit… so they were determined to make this a 40 day experiment, to try and change their dating “rituals”/ or habits. The interesting part is that they are polar opposites. One’s a hopeless romantic and goes into every relationship, thinking she’ll find “the one”, while the other is a commit-a-phobe and prefers to date casually.

But they set up some ground rules… This is what they consisted of:
1. We will see each other every day for 40 days.
2. We will go on at least three dates a week.
3. We will see a couples therapist once a week.
4. We will go on one weekend trip together.
5. We will fill out the daily questionnaire and document everything.
6. We will not see, date, hook up or have sex with anyone else.

How interesting huh? Maybe the quote, “it’s the ones who have been in front of us the whole time who end up being the right fits” is more accurate than not? I mean, after all, there has to be a reason you’re friends with the people you’re friends with…. there is either some sort of attraction, some sort of similarities, that brought us together to begin with. Do you think this experiment will make or break their friendship? I personally don’t think I’d be able to date a fellow graphic designer…. but that’s only because I’m competitive in nature and that would just not end well for relationship sake. But who knows? Maybe they will prove me wrong!
